As Art on Paper 2018 wraps up for another year, the great work on display shows why this fair has become an important destination for the arts in New York City.
International exhibitors presented drawings, paintings, sculptures, photographs and large scale installations in every manner relating to paper, and expanding the concept of what a work on paper can be.
As a visitor for the third time, I mingled among an eager crowd of collectors, gallery owners, industry professionals and other art-lovers like me. The exhibition space at Pier 36 is generous, well-lit, and airy. It’s a great hangout for a day or the weekend with big-name to newer artists represented on the scene, and a smorgasbord of styles and price points. Surprisingly, there were remarkable and affordable works to be had. I look forward to attending Art on Paper every year.
From the reverse plates housing Trump’s tweets (for rubbings – the positive version shown for reading) to bad Tinder dates, there were messages and imagery for everyone. Here’s a sampling of some pieces that caught my eye.
